Super friendly service the moment we arrived! We went for the Bluey meet and greetabs they had small samples and we got to try some of their snacks. We ordered a Michelada and a mango margarita and they were soooo good that my husband had to order more. We had the aguachiles as an appetizer and the spiciness was just right. We ordered some steak tacos and a torta and both super delicious. Definitely recommend.
Overview
If you find yourself cruising down 14733 Kedzie Ave, Posen, IL 60469, there’s one place you can’t miss - Jelly's Botanas & Mas. From the outside, it looks like a casual neighborhood spot, but once you step inside, the atmosphere buzzes with laughter, delicious aromas, and the unmistakable feeling that you’ve found a hidden gem in the south suburbs of Chicago.
The first time I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a playlist that instantly set the mood for a laid-back dining experience. The decor strikes the perfect balance between cozy and festive, blending Mexican-inspired art with the comfortable feel of a local diner. But what truly captures your attention is the food - colorful, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care.
The menu is a journey through authentic flavors, each dish telling a story of traditional recipes mixed with modern twists. I started with their signature botanas platter - a combination of loaded nachos, grilled shrimp, and seasoned wings. Every bite was a burst of flavor, perfectly paired with their house-made salsas that range from mild to spicy enough to make you reach for your drink. Their margaritas are no afterthought either - tangy, fresh, and made with real fruit juice instead of pre-made mixes. You can taste the difference immediately.
According to a 2024 survey by the National Restaurant Association, over 70% of diners now prioritize authenticity and quality ingredients when choosing where to eat. Jelly’s seems to embody that trend effortlessly. They don’t just serve food; they serve a sense of home. The kitchen staff prepares everything fresh daily, from the hand-cut vegetables to the slow-cooked meats that make their tacos unforgettable. I had the carne asada tacos during my second visit, and the seasoning balance was spot-on - smoky, savory, and just the right amount of char.
What makes this spot even more special is how it serves the local community. The owners often host small events and gatherings, turning the restaurant into a hub for friends and families. I once attended a birthday dinner there, and the staff went above and beyond to make everyone feel celebrated. You could tell this isn’t just a business for them; it’s a passion. Their commitment to excellent service and high-quality meals builds the kind of loyalty that most big chains can only dream of.
Jelly’s also receives consistently positive online reviews. Many customers praise not just the taste, but also the generous portions and reasonable prices. One reviewer described it as “the kind of place where the food makes you feel like you’ve been invited to someone’s home.” That’s not an exaggeration - you really do get that sense of hospitality with every visit.
Behind the scenes, their cooking process emphasizes freshness and technique. Ingredients are locally sourced when possible, supporting regional farms and suppliers. Dishes are prepared with methods that respect the roots of Mexican cuisine while embracing a modern approach. For example, their grilled chicken is marinated for hours in citrus and spices, then seared to perfection to keep it juicy. That level of detail shows a chef who understands flavor science - a blend of heat, acid, and seasoning that keeps you coming back for more.
What’s also impressive is their menu diversity. Whether you’re craving botanas to share, classic tacos, burritos, or their hearty fajitas, there’s something for everyone. Vegetarians aren’t left out either; the veggie enchiladas are just as satisfying as their meaty counterparts. And if you’re just there for drinks, the bar offers a mix of local beers and creative cocktails that make it easy to linger long after your meal is done.
Based on my experiences and countless customer reviews, Jelly’s isn’t just about eating - it’s about connecting. The staff remembers faces, the food remains consistent, and the environment feels welcoming every single time. For anyone exploring the food scene around Posen, IL, this place deserves a top spot on your must-try list. From its vibrant flavors to its community spirit, Jelly’s Botanas & Mas proves that great food and great people always make the perfect combination.

We had the most delicious tacos — Asada, Al Pastor, and Ranchero — each one packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant, and you can truly feel the love in this family-owned restaurant. They also have amazing snacks that are just as tasty as the main dishes. Everything felt fresh, authentic, and made with care. Definitely coming back — highly recommend!
I love coming here whenever I get the chance and they always treat us like Family. Got my husband hooked on the Chamoy that I have been purchasing since they started from the bottom. If you are around the area stop by and give them a try .. Trust me you will not regret it.
The steak tacos were amazing! My al pastor was completely burned to a crisp. Unable to enjoy it, but the steak tacos and the amazing staff definitely outweighed that, and I came back to give them another try. I am totally hooked on the steak tacos. Hands down the best in the area!!!!
